Recreational Classes

The following classes are geared toward dancers who are interested in improving basic skills while having fun dancing.  They will perform a short show for their family and friends at the studio on the last day of classes, free of charge.  This is a great way for parents, grandparents, and other family and friends to see the progress the dancers have made over the session!    Sign up soon, classes fill quickly and we would love to see you there!

Hip Hop/Jazz Classes

We are very excited to offer the Summer Hip Hop Classes taught by a variety of teachers!  Within the 8 week session, the classes will be taught with 3-4 different teachers to give the dancers a mixture of hip hop styles.  This is a great way to try hip hop for the first time or to improve on what you have already learned.  We hope to see you this summer!

Summer Dance Escape – Special Summer Rate!!!

    This summer we are excited to offer a dance camp for students entering Kindergarten – 8th grade who would like to dance, meet new friends, and have a great time!  The dancers will be able to take a variety of classes (tap, jazz, ballet, musical theater, hip hop, and more), play games, make crafts, and put on a short show at the end of the week for family and friends.  The dates and cost are listed below.  Space is limited, sign up now!!!  It is sure to be a good time!    

Monday-Thursday, August 16-19, 2010    9:00 am – 12:00 pm    $75.00 (includes a snack)

Summer Show                            Registration Deadline: June 10, 2010

We are thrilled this year to offer an opportunity for our advanced and competitive dancers to perform on stage in a theatrical production incorporating both acting and dancing.  Throughout the month of July, we will be working with the dancers on a summer show to be performed on July 31, 2010.  The rehearsal times are listed below.  

Rehearsals: The dancers will be divided up into various sections for the performance.  Each section will practice for 2-3 hours per week during the times listed below.  
    Wednesdays, July 7th – 28th         4:30-9:00 pm (a more specific schedule will be sent out in June)
    Mondays, July 19th & 26th         4:30-9:00 pm (a more specific schedule will be sent out in June)
    Thursday & Friday, July 29th & 30th      4:30-9:00 pm (a more specific schedule will be sent out in July)
        Cost: $300 (includes rehearsal fees and costume)

Performance(s): Saturday, July 31, 2010    
        10:00 am – 9:00 pm (a more specific schedule will be handed out in July)
* Please note: Dancers must register by June 10, 2010 for the summer show.

Summer Technique Classes

    Summer is a great time for a dancer to improve their technique, style, and flexibility without the pressure of competing or performing.  Therefore, we are offering summer jazz and ballet technique classes for dancers who are at the more advanced levels.  We STRONGLY RECOMMEND that dancers interested in competing on any line in the 2010-2011 season attend these classes throughout the summer to keep up with and improve their dancing.  These classes are open to any interested students, but please keep in mind that the classes will be held at the level of the most advanced students in the class.  The schedule and pricing are listed below.  We hope to see you there!

•    Intermediate (Rising Stars, Moonbeams, Starlights, Cosmics, Advanced level regular class students)
    Punch Cards:  (The punch cards are non-refundable.)
             1 session = $13.00        4 sessions = $45.00        7 sessions = $65.00
    Schedule:   These classes will be held the following dates: June 22, July 6-August 10
        Tuesdays    5:00 pm -7:00 pm      Tap, Jazz & Ballet    

•    Advanced (Cosmics, Starbursts, Little Dippers, Twilights, Shooting Stars, Dreams)
    Punch Cards:  (The punch cards are non-refundable.)
       1 session = $20.00     5 sessions = $85.00     10 sessions = $145.00     13 sessions = $165.00
    Schedule:  The dancers will be divided into two levels when they arrive for class.  The classes will be held the following dates: June 22-24, July 1-29, August 10-12

        Thursdays   10:00 am – 1:00 pm    Ballet & Jazz

Summer Intensives

    We are very excited to offer a few summer intensives for intermediate and advanced dancers again this summer.  This is a great opportunity for the dancers to further their dance training with a variety of instructors, and explore new styles and genres of dance.  The dancers will be working on both their technical training and learning combinations to improve their style and movement quality.  Be sure to sign up – it will be a great week!

•    The intermediate intensive is for dancers ages 7 and older from the intermediate & advanced regular classes, junior competition lines, and our younger senior competition lines or similar ages and abilities.
     Intermediate        June 28th – June 30th          4:30-6:30 pm        $65.00

•    The advanced intensive is for dancers from the senior competition lines that are 10 and older or similar ages and abilities.
     Advanced         June 28th – July 1st         6:30-9:30 pm        $125.00

Junior & Senior Competition Line Try-outs

Are you interested in becoming part of a great team at Metro Dance Center?  Dancers interested in joining our award winning junior and senior competition teams are expected to attend our placement audition this summer. Students will work on technique skills and will learn short combinations in tap, lyrical, and jazz.  Following the audition, Metro Dance Center will place the dancers on the competition line that they will most benefit from throughout the 2010-2011 dance season.  Results will be posted at the studio and e-mailed to your home within 1 week after the audition.
